I’ve been going on about it all year – Christmas is the time of calorific overload. It’s all too easy to get sucked into the delights of the Christmas feast … but did you know just a few simple swaps could help you save at least 500 calories on Christmas Day? Here are my top tips for a lighter Christmas to make the big day a little more healthy.
SWAP Turkey with skin on, basted in butter
FOR skinless turkey basted with vegetable stock
SWAP sausage/forced meat stuffing
FOR chestnut or mixed nut stuffing with cranberries & orange
SWAP bread sauce made with cream
FOR bread sauce made with semi-skimmed milk
SWAP double cream
FOR plain yogurt or low fat custard
Do all these swaps and you’ll make a saving of around 500+ calories – and I bet you won’t even notice the difference. Happy days !!!
