No more Saturday class – but are you interested in Small Group Training?

After 33 years I’ve stopped teaching at Gosford because of a massive price hike in the hall rental costs. The last thing I wanted to do was pass on that extra cost to you guys by increasing fees and giving you nothing extra in return. I’m still struggling with settling up as they can’t even get the final invoice right. Councils and monkeys comes to mind… Huge apologies to all our Gosford regular and occasional visitors too. I’m sure you understand why we had to make this difficult decision – and I hope you’ll be able to come along to some of our other classes.

Mondays @  Kirtlington Village Hall, 6.30-7:30pm
Our Monday night programme includes some stonking new tunes,
some of which even make Gareth dance on our ski trips!

Thursdays @ Kirtlington Village Hall, 9.30am
Thursday morning means it’s time for our “Spring Lean” ladies’ fitness class. Come along and join us!

Small Group Training (SGT)

With Gosford classes over and Saturdays now free I’m thinking about starting a new session – a regular Small Group Training session. This would be a group of no more than 10 who would get my undivided attention during an 8-10 week course based in Kirtlington.  As well as weekly workouts there would be additional follow ups, a private social media group for chat and encouragement, nutritional advice and more. Interested? Give me a call on 01869 352000, email me or text me!

Fitness Gizmos and Gadgets

Fitbit_Charge_HRHave you bought into the fitness tracker craze? You know, those Fitbits and Jawbones and all the other gadgets and gizmos out there that claim to help you get fit? Fitness trackers are not perfect. They tend to think people sleep more and walk less than they really do. Fitbit’s new PurePulse heart rate monitoring technology is even the subject of a lawsuit by customers who allege that the technology is inaccurate to the point it sometimes doesn’t register a heart rate at all!

There are also those people that think they’ll lose weight and get fit simply by wearing a Fitbit! Of course that doesn’t happen – it’s like those people who join a gym or a class and never go but still expect results. There are plenty of those around … but I won’t name names!

STOP PRESS!! Barry Grinham in FitPro Magazine!

Prime Energy Fitness’s own barry Grinham was recently interviewed by FitPro Magazine about fitness for the over fifties. In the article he talks about how more 40+ people are joining classes and why classes don’t seem to cater for the older generations. You can read the article here!

Children in Need

children in needThanks to everyone who came along to our special Children in Need fundraising workout last month. We’ve received £440 in donations at class and from sales at Molly’s Cake Bake. Thank you to everyone who donated …. And for those that didn’t …why not? It’s for kids, after all!

SKI 2017

We’ve got a new date for our SKI 2017 trip – it will now be January 21st-28th. We’ll also be enjoying a later flight from Birmingham Airport, rather than enduring the matchstick-eyes of an early morning at Gatwick – and it’s so much easier to get to Birmingham than Gatwick anyway!

Deposits will be taken hopefully by the time the next newsletter comes out, by which time I should have secured the Birmingham flights AND a week’s ski pass – saving an extra £250!!

Spring into Fitness this month!

london marathonLast Tuesday was officially the first day of spring, according to the Met Office, and hopefully everything is going well for all those in marathon training. We are pleased to see that the Prime Energy Fitness classes are also very busy. Must be a sign that our members are getting results and enjoying the formats. Last week’s Monday night class at Kirtlington was a complete sell out, despite there being half a dozen no shows!

Long may this spring surge continue?

London Marathon: Sunday 24th April 2016

So if you know anyone doing the marathon this year please let them know, as they are more than welcome to attend. Contact the office for further details: 01869 352000.
