Thousands raised by our runners in London Marathon

london marathonWell done to everyone who completed the 31st London Marathon on Sunday. Between you, you raised over £50k for charity! Sterling effort – well done, guys and gals. As you’ll know, I was involved in helping them train and prepare, and I offered loads of advice to help them get through that infamous brick wall and complete the race. I’ve had some lovely feedback following the race, including:

“Barry, you were and are amazing … thank you!” JL, Thame

“So grateful for the footwear advice, Barry” DL, Oxford

If you’ve ever wanted to run the London Marathon, keep an eye on newsletters for news of training sessions and seminars!

Socialising – the Prime Energy Way!

Xmas workoutPrime Energy Fitness isn’t all about hard work – we have a lot of fun too!

Congratulations to our “hard core” members who turned out on Christmas Day for our annual “Big Day” workout … traditionally followed by a glass of Champagne, of course. Well done, team!

And our “Little Black Dress” ladies had a fab Christmas lunch at the Lion in Wendlebury, with everyone exercising (excuse the pun) portion control on both the food and the vino  – don’t they look great!!

Our “Spring Lean” class is now in progress so come along and join us on a Thursday morning!

SKI 2016 report – and news about SKI 2017!

The Prime Energy Fitness ski tour last month was a huge success, and as usual all the class attendees and personal trainers talked about how their training beforehand paid dividends once they were on the slopes.

ski 2“The classes certainly paid off. I’ve never skied continuously for 6 days before – amazing!!” SM, Oxford

During the day, the tourists blitzed the pistes and pounded the powder in the off piste, too. Evenings were spent round the dinner table, with sumptuous food prepared by Ben and Tony, our hosts – and of course every meal was preceded by drinks and canapés. They even served our party with tea and coffee in bed each morning to get us off to a positive start.

Ski 2017, which will be our 24th tour, is already in the planning, and once again we will be staying in a luxury 12-berth chalet in Val d’Isere.  So if you fancy joining the tour next year please express your interest to Barry asap – click here to drop me a line.

Many will be invited … but only 12 will get to tour.

(And as usual 3 places have been reserved off plan due to the success of previous tours – so make sure you get in touch quickly to reserve your place!)

London Marathon Places and Seminar

london marathonThe date of the annual London Marathon draws ever closer and if you’re taking part, your training should be well underway by now.  If you were unable to obtain a place but still wish to run (and are fit enough) I have access to entries even at this late stage

I will also be giving my annual pre-marathon talk at Manor House, John Radcliffe Hospital at 10.30am on Saturday March 12th. It’s always very informative and full of top tips to help you make the most of it, both on the big day itself and in the weeks leading up to it. It’s well worth attending and you and your friends are most welcome. See you there – and as ever, please spread the word!

What are your fitness goals for 2016?

fitness regimeJanuary has flown past and you should be well into your new lifestyle regimes by now, but it’s the next two weeks that really counts … because all the research shows that people normally only last six weeks before they return to the couch! So with that in mind, I thought I’d give you my thoughts on what the coming 11 months hold for you.

What will be massive in 2016? I actually have the answer to this! I can guarantee that almost everyone wants:

  1. To lose weight
  2. To improve their general health and lifestyle
  3. To be fitter

Sounds like you? Then you’re in the right place! Stick with us for the year, follow the tips in our regular newsletters, come along to our classes and you’ll achieve all those things by the end of the year!

waterAs for me, here’s my personal goal list for 2016:

  1. Get more sleep – at least 7-8 hrs daily. Most nights I do get enough sleep, but I want to make those good nights more consistent.
  2. Drink more water. This isn’t about the Evian scam encouraging us all to drink at least 2 litres every day – because the health benefits were never proven! But I am aiming to drink at least 1 litre of water throughout the day, in addition to the extra H2O I consume in other drinks such as tea… yes, it all counts!

3. Consume even more green veg. (Sorry, Annie!) Green veg has huge benefits for weight, health and overall well-being and not many of us eat nearly enough. So I will be going for that rainbow of colour of fresh vegetables and salad produce with every dinner.  I also increase my intake of blueberries. Described as the world’s healthiest fruit, blueberries help with cholesterol levels, bone density, hearth health and more … definitely worth including in the diet!

So what are your three fitness goals for 2016? It would be great to hear from you!  Let me know what you want to achieve this year and I can hold you accountable – and likewise, you can do the same with me. Believe me, being held accountable really works.
