Promoting Physical Activity through Physical Education.
Prime Energy (PE) offers a unique multi-skills and fitness programme for schools, both as an after school club and as a part of the school day. Founded eleven years ago by former Oxford P.E teacher, Barry Grinham, and formally trading as “Club Energy”, the company came to fruition after requests from parents for him to establish an after school club combining both multi-sports skills with a fitness component. The programme has had praise over the years from both OfSTED and Social Services, and continues to promote and foster an active and healthy lifestyle from child to adulthood.
At the P.E. Company we provide all the equipment and staffing necessary to implement such a programme. As educators, we strive for a balanced curriculum of individual, partner, team, co-operative and competitive activities. The programme is organised to answer the guidelines laid down by the national curriculum for key stages 1, 2 and 3. This forms a foundation on which to take forward the child’s own physical education.
Each 75-minute programme is supervised by qualified staff with nationally recognised qualifications. They all have experience in working with young people making the activities educational, beneficial and fun. All staff are C.R.B checked and hold a First Aid certificate.

Each session concludes with a juice break and a de-brief of the session. This is also the time for the award of “Star of the Week”, the sports award badge awarded to the pupil who has worked the best that week. At the end of each 10-week programme, skills having changed every 5 weeks, each child receives a certificate of achievement and attendance.
HOW IS IT FUNDED?
There is no expense to the school, only benefits. The parent/guardian pays a set fee for per 10 session programme for each child attending this unique after school activity. The P.E Company can tailor its course to the needs of each school, so prices may vary.
A new initiative to commence January 2013 from the Company, to benefit both the school and its pupils, is the FREE place for a pupil with a “Need to Go”. The Head and their staff nominate a child who would benefit from this FREE place on the programme. The enrolment is not disclosed by the company or the school. From January 2006 we have successfully been running P.P.A cover in a number of schools, as well as staff in-service training.
